Common Ingenico function codes

A function code is a series of steps that you can perform to help fix, change or update your Ingenico card machine. 

There's a wide range of functions codes, however, if the code you're getting isn't listed below, please call us on 01606 566 600:

  • Function 30 - this changes the date and time. 
  • Function 34 - this resets your supervisor code (only available on the IWL258 & Tetra Move 3500 machines). 
  • Function 87 - this changes the connection method between phoneline/internet (available for all machines but the IWL251 machine). 
  • Function 91 - this tests the signal strength and locks onto to strongest mobile network (only available on the IWL251 machine).
  • Function 96 - this connects the card machine to a WiFi network (only available on the IWL258 machine).

 

How do I do a function 30?

A function 30 changes the date and time on your machine.

To perform do this, just follow the below steps:

  1. From the home screen, press the 'Menu' button until 'System Menu' is shown.
  2. Highlight 'Select function' and press 'Enter'.
  3. Type in '30' and press 'Enter'.
  4. Swipe your supervisor card.
  5. You'll be asked to type in the current date. For example, for the 9th of October 2019, you would type in '091019'. Press 'Enter'.
  6. You'll then be asked to type in the current time. For example, for 11:56am, you would put 1156. Press 'Enter'.
  7. The function will then be completed and your machine will return back to the home screen.

How do I do a function 34?

A function 34 resets the supervisor code on the IWL258 and Tetra Move 3500 machine.

To perform this function, follow the below steps:

  1. From the home screen, press the 'Menu' button until 'System Menu' is shown.
  2. Highlight 'Select function' and press 'Enter'.
  3. Type in '34' and press 'Enter'.
  4. Swipe your supervisor card.
  5. Press 'Enter' to confirm you'd like to change your supervisor code.
  6. Type in your current supervisor code and press 'Enter'.
  7. Type in a new supervisor code and press 'Enter'.
  8. The function will then be completed and your machine will return back to the home screen.

How do I do a function 87?

A function 87 lets you change the connection method between phoneline and internet.

If you need to change your connection, just follow the below steps:

  1. Plug in the connection cable you'd like to use to change connection methods.
  2. From the home screen, press the 'Menu' button until 'System Menu' is shown.
  3. Highlight 'Select function' and press 'Enter'.
  4. Type in '87' and press 'Enter'.
  5. Swipe your supervisor card.
  6. The machine will ask to confirm to switch comms. Press 'Enter'.
  7. Select the connection method you want and press 'Enter'.
  8. The screen will prompt for the chosen connection method. Press 'Enter'.
  9. The screen will then show 'dialling'.
  10. The function will then be completed and your machine will return back to the home screen.

How do I do a function 91?

A function 91 tests your IWL251 card machines signal strength and locks onto the strongest mobile network.

To do this, follow the below steps:

  1. From the home screen, press the 'Menu' button until 'System Menu' is shown.
  2. Highlight 'Select function' and press 'Enter'.
  3. Type in '91' and press 'Enter'.
  4. Swipe your supervisor card.
  5. Select 'Current Settings' and press 'Enter'.
  6. Select 'Manual Mode' and press 'Enter'.
  7. Select 'Test Signal Strength' and press 'Enter'.
  8. Select 'Across all networks' and press 'Enter'.
  9. The terminal will then scan for all available networks and automatically prints a receipt of all networks along with the signal strength next to it.
  10. On your machine, go to 'Select Network' and press 'Enter'.
  11. Choose the network name that has the strongest signal and press 'Enter'.
  12. The machine will connect to this network and the signal will be shown on screen.
  13. The function will then be completed and your machine will return back to the home screen.

How do I do a function 96?

A function 96 connects the IWL258 card machine to a WiFi network.

To perform this, just complete the steps below:

  1. From the home screen, press the 'Menu' button until 'System Menu' is shown.
  2. Highlight 'Select function' and press 'Enter'.
  3. Type in '96' and press 'Enter'.
  4. Swipe your supervisor card.
  5. The terminal will ask you to confirm the WiFi set-up. Press 'Enter'.
  6. It'll then say 'New Profile'. Press 'Enter'.
  7. Select the WiFi network and press 'Enter'.
  8. Type in your WiFi password and press 'Enter'.
  9. The function will then be completed and your machine will return back to the home screen.
